Keith H. Hazen, Jr.

Keith H. Hazen Jr., 85, of 127 Line Avenue, Ellwood City, died on Monday afternoon, April 19, 2010, at 145 p.m. at Evergreen Nursing Center in Harmony PA.

He was born in Wampum on Dec. 21, 1924, to the late Keith Hazen Sr. and the late Martha Boone Hazen.

He was a retired district manager for Columbia Gas and was a long time member of Providence Baptist Church. He graduated in 1943 from Lincoln High School in Ellwood City. He served during World War II in the U.S. Army, Medical Corps, in the South Pacific Theatre. He compiled and authored a book called "Those Who Served," a record of area veterans who served from the Revolutionary War onward. He was active in the Disabled American Veterans Organization and was a member of Ellwood City Lodge No. 599 F&AM. He was also active in the Retired Columbia Gas Employees. His hobbies included golfing, gardening, attending class reunions, boating and going to his camp in Tionesta and spending time with his family.

He is survived by two sons and a daughter, Mark Hazen, Bruce Hazen (Kimberly Donovan) all of Ellwood City and Kathy Hazen (Michael O'Neill) of Seattle, WA; two sisters, Helen Henderson of Neshannock Township and Virginia LaCava of Ellwood City, and four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Hazen, and a stepdaughter, Sharleen Fannin Hazen.

A celebration of Keith's life will be held at the TURNER FUNERAL HOME, Sixth Street at Park Ave. Ellwood City on Thursday April 22, 2010, at 1030 a.m. Full military honors will be observed, at Turner's, by the Veterans Honor Guard.

Burial will be in North Sewickley Cemetery.
