Russell Anderson

Russell Anderson, 84, of Frisco, died on Wednesday morning, July 21, 2010 at his residence.

He was born in Ellwood City on November 26, 1925 to the late Benjamin R. Anderson and the late Elizabeth Jane Morrow Anderson.

Russell was a graduate of Lincoln High School in the class of 1944. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII as a turret gunner aboard the USS Saginaw Bay. He worked at several jobs, eventually retiring from Mathews Conveyor, and was a lifelong member of Knox Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon, elder, and trustee. Russell enjoyed woodworking and gardening and was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers fan.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Kingston Anderson, as well as two daughters, Cheri (and Doug) Magill of Portersville and Debby Anderson of Columbus, OH. He is also survived by three grandchildren: Julie (and Jason) Wagner and Joel and Kyle Magill, as well as a great-granddaughter, Erika Wagner, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The last of his family, he was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by two brothers: Benjamin Anderson and Charles R. Anderson, as well as an infant daughter.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. on Friday, July 23, 2010 in the TURNER FUNERAL HOME of Ellwood City, Sixth Street at Park Avenue.

Services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 24, 2010 at TURNER’S with Rev. Elizabeth Wallace, his pastor, officiating.

Interment will follow in Slippery Rock Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Wayne Township.
