Winifred A. Wilson

Winifred A. Wilson, 87, of the Countryside Convalescent Home in Mercer, formerly of 905 Fire Street, Ellwood City (Frisco), died at UPMC Horizon Shenango in Farrell on Wednesday evening, August 25, 2010.

She was born in Ellwood City on November 27, 1922 to the late Edward and Mildred Dilley.

She was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Ellwood City, and worked in the offices at the Ellwood City Hospital for 29 years.

A longtime active member of Wurtemburg Methodist Church, she taught Sunday School there and belonged to the United Methodist Women.

She loved all types of dancing, and was a member of “Charlie’s Angels” dance club and “Circle of Friends” in Baden.

She was preceded in death by her husband of over 64 years, Harold E. Wilson, who died November 26, 2004. She was also preceded by a brother and five sisters, Thomas Dilley, Esperance Brophy, Mildred Witte, Ruth Lambert, Madge Dilley, and Irma Bains.

She is survived by two sons, Thomas A. (and Mary) Wilson of Jamestown, PA; and Lee R. (and Karen) Wilson of Frisco, TX. Two grandchildren, Cynthia Wilson and Robin (and Gary) Goodson, also survive her.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. on Sunday, August 29, 2010 in the TURNER FUNERAL HOME Of Ellwood City, Sixth Street at Park Avenue.

Services will be conducted at Wurtemburg Methodist Church, 1244 Portersville Road, Ellwood City, on Monday, August 30, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. with the Rev. Thomas A. Topar, officiating.

Burial will be in Slippery Rock Church Cemetery, Wayne Township.

Memorials may be made to the Wurtemburg Methodist Church.
