Doris M. Parker

Doris M. Parker, 84, of Haven Convalescent Home, New Castle, formerly of Pittsburgh Circle, Ellwood City, died at the Haven on Tuesday morning, August 31, 2010.

She was born in Callery (Butler Co.), PA on December 22, 1925 to the late Theodore H. and Anna Sophia Spithaler Crone.

She was a longtime member of First Christian Church of Ellwood City, and the S.O.C. Class there.

Doris enjoyed quilting and crafts and was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler fan.

She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her husband of over 45 years, Howard E. “Scotty” Parker, who died June 14, 1992.

She is survived by two sons, Charles E. Parker of Ellwood City, and Robert L. Parker of Edinburg, PA. Two granddaughters also survive, April Sue and Nicole Lynn Parker, as well as a great-granddaughter, Leslie Peyton. The last of her family, Doris was preceded by two sisters, Martha Koziar and Ruth Pizor, and one brother, Grover D. Crone.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. on Thursday, September 2, 2010 at the TURNER FUNERAL HOME of Ellwood City, Sixth Street at Park Avenue, Ellwood City.

Services will be conducted at TURNERS on Thursday evening, September 2, 2010 at 8:00 P.M. with Mr. Thomas A. O’Brien, pastor of First Christian Church of Ellwood City, officiating, assisted by Rev. David Bell, of First United Brethren Church in New Castle.

Burial will be in Slippery Rock Church Cemetery, Wayne Township.
