Herbert H. Swick

Herbert H. Swick, 78, of Fombell (Franklin Twp.) went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday evening, October 24, 2010 in the Evergreen Nursing Center in Harmony.

He was born in North Sewickley Township, on October 16, 1932 to the late Samuel Swick and the late Edna Boswell Swick.

He was a graduate of Lincoln High School in the class of 1950 and was a member of the First Church of God. He married his beloved wife, Dorothy “Jean” West Swick on April 21, 1956. He worked on the family farm, drove school bus and milk truck, worked as mechanic, and lastly retired from Billco Corp in Zelienople where he had worked as a welder. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, and playing in the church softball league.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters: Samuel and Calvin Swick, Lena Crans, Dorothy Ritter, Marge Sokoloski, and June Dumhoff.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy “Jean” West Swick, and one son and six daughters: Cheryl (and Eric) Krut of Fombell, Thomas (and Antonia) Swick of Ellwood City, Lisa (and Carl) Smith of Prince George, VA, Jacqueline (and Jeff) Syphrit of Ellwood City, Lori (and Ron) Sweeney of Lisbon, OH, Melissa (and Blaine) Chapman of New Castle, and Heather (and Shad) Greco of Beaver Falls.

Fifteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren also survive, as well as a sister, Vesta Best of Fombell.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 on Tuesday October 26, 2010 in the TURNER FUNERAL HOME of Ellwood City, Sixth Street at Park Avenue.

Additional visiting will be held from 10 A.M. until the time of a Celebration of Life service at 11 A.M. on Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at the First Church of God, 1862 Mercer Road, Ellwood City, with Rev. Phil Conklin, his pastor, officiating.

Interment will follow in Camp Run Cemetery, Franklin Township.

Memorial contributions may be made, in Herbert’s name, to the Capital Fund Campaign (CFC) or the Angel Food Ministry at the First Church of God.
