Jean L. Rape Thompson

Jean L. Rape Thompson, 79, of Ellwood City, passed away on Monday afternoon, November 8, 2010 in the Passavant Retirement Center Nursing Home in Zelienople.

She was born in Zelienople on June 2, 1931 to the late Arthur Rape and Margaret Neely Rape.

Jean was a graduate of Lincoln High School in the class of 1949 and had worked at Fisher’s Big Wheel. She was a member of St. Peter’s Reformed Church in Zelienople. She married her late husband of 59 years, R. Gerald “Chip” Thompson in 1949. He preceded her in death on July 5, 2008.

She enjoyed her summer home in Van Buren Point, NY and visiting with her friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters: Raymond, Ralph, and Burnett Rape, Ethel Black, and Alberta Krestel.

Jean is survived by two sons and a daughter: Dr. Bradford R. (and Linda) Thompson of Destrehan, LA, Drew A. (and Laura) Thompson of Mars, and Jone Thompson of Cranberry Township.

She is also survived by four grandchildren: Tyler, Bradford, Stephanie, and Tim Thompson, as well as a sister, Helen Staggers.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 in the TURNER FUNERAL HOME of Ellwood City, Sixth Street at Park Avenue.

Services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, November 11, 2010 at TURNER’S with Rev. James Bertotti, her pastor, officiating. Entombment will follow in Slippery Rock Church Cemetery Mausoleum, Wayne Township.

Memorial contributions may be made, in Jean’s name, to St. Peter’s Reformed Church or VITAS Hospice.
