Alberta A. Gibbons Bartle

Alberta A. Gibbons Bartle, 81, of Lincoln Terrace, Ellwood City, passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening, November 10, 2010 in the Avalon Nursing Center in West Pittsburg.

She was born in Park Gate on April 27, 1929 to the late James Patrick Gibbons, who died in 1973, and the late Marie A. McDevitt Gibbons, who died in 1966.

She was a member of Holy Redeemer Parish and attended Lincoln High School. She worked at the Ellwood City Knitting Mill for 25 years and later was the proprietor of the Bridal House shop in Ellwood for 20 years.

Alberta enjoyed yard work, playing cards, walking, and entertaining with family and friends, and was a social member of most of the clubs in Ellwood City. She also served on the Ellwood City After-Prom Committee.

She is survived by two daughters, and a son-in-law: Diana McAnallen of New Castle and Patti Ann (and Robert) Greco of Ellwood City.

Ten grandchildren survive: Kasey, Erin, Shane, Robert, Jr., and Nicole Jo Greco, Eric, and Willie McAnallen, Stephanie Gonzales, Jamie Snare, and Denice Smith; as well as 17 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.

Two brothers and a sister also survive: Ralph F. Gibbons, Thomas F. Gibbons, and Mary (and James) Dombeck, all of Ellwood City.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters: James W., John, Arthur M., Charles E., and Richard B. Gibbons, Dora Francis, Kathryn Paswell, and Patty Ierullo.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. on Friday, November 12, 2010, and from 9-9:30 A.M. on Saturday, November 13, 2010 in the TURNER FUNERAL HOME of Ellwood City, Sixth Street at Park Avenue.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 13, 2010 in the Holy Redeemer Parish Church, 415 Fourth Street, Ellwood City with Rev. Fr. Louis F. Pascazi officiating.

Interment will follow in St. Mark’s Lutheran Cemetery, Franklin Township.

Memorial contributions may be made, in Alberta’s name, to the American Cancer Society.
