Vance L. Wright

Vance L. Wright, 78, of Wiley Hill, Ellwood City (North Sewickley Twp.), passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday afternoon, November 16, 2010 in the Providence Care Center in Beaver Falls.

He was born in North Sewickley Twp., on April 6, 1932 to the late Joseph Irvin Wright and the late Ruth Majeska Wright. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and married his wife of 57 years, Luella Holler Wright, on May 29, 1953 in Energy, PA. She survives him. He worked as a crane operator at B&W Tubular Products, Wallace Run in West Mayfield until it closed, then worked in housekeeping at the Ellwood City Hospital for 10 years. Vance attended First Christian Church in Ellwood City and enjoyed vacationing and travel with his wife and family. He was the animal control officer and a volunteer firefighter in North Sewickley Township for many years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Frank in infancy, and three sisters: Mary Ella Liebendorfer, Gladys Burry, and Irvina Gasper.

He is survived, in addition to his wife, by five sons and two daughters: Gregory (and Linda) Wright of Wiley Hill, Ronald (and Alyson) Wright of South Carolina, Dwight (and Liane) Wright of Florida, Douglas (and Louanne) Wright of Kansas, Patrick (and Darlene) Wright of Nevada, Margaret (and Jeff) Troutman of Portersville, and Beth (and David) Surma of Ellwood City. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Two brothers and a sister also survive: Alva Wright of Beaver Falls, and Harvey Wright and Hazel Wilson, both of Ellwood City.

Friends will be received from 7-9 P.M. on Thursday, November 18, 2010 in the TURNER FUNERAL HOME of Ellwood City, Sixth Street at Park Avenue.

Additional visitation will be held from 10 A.M. until the time of service at 11 A.M. on Friday, November 19, 2010 at TURNER’S with Mr. Tom O’Brien, his pastor, officiating.

Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Perry Township.

Memorial contributions may be made, in Vance’s name, to Grane Hospice.
