Ruth Ann Cornelius

Ruth Ann Cornelius, 70, of Ellwood City, passed away peacefully with her family at her side following a courageous battle with cancer on Friday morning, February 11, 2011, at the Good Samaritan Hospice House in Wexford.

She was born in Beaver on December 19, 1940 to the late Carl J. Weyand and the late Jean Davis Weyand. She attended Beaver High School and married her loving husband of 49 years, C. Alvin Cornelius, on January 29, 1962. He survives her.

Ruth was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister who enjoyed knitting and crocheting as well as spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Carol J. Shanholt in 1988.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Charles Scott Cornelius of Ellwood City, as well as three grandchildren: Brandon (and Stephanie), Michael, and Erin Cornelius, all of Ellwood City; and two great grandchildren: Gage and Carson Cornelius.

She is also survived by three brothers: Charles (and Donna), Kenneth (and Nancy), and James (and Lisa) Weyand, all of Beaver, as well as a brother-in-law, Doug (and Dolly) Shanholtz of Hopewell.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. on Sunday, February 13, 2011 in the TURNER FUNERAL HOME of Ellwood City, Sixth Street at Park Avenue.

Services will be conducted at 11 A.M. on Monday, February 14, 2011 at TURNER’S with Rev. R. Tod Custer, pastor of Christ Presbyterian Church, officiating.

Entombment will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum, Rochester.

Memorial contributions may be made, in Ruth’s name, to the American Cancer Society.
