Ethel W. McQuiston Ketterer

Ethel Winifred McQuiston Ketterer, 87, of 1006 Portersville Road, Ellwood City (Wayne Township), died on Friday morning, February 6, 2009 at the Ellwood City Hospital following a brief illness.

She was born in Wayne Township on March 25, 1921 to the late Mark McQuiston and the late Lottie Staples McQuiston.

Ethel attended Lincoln High School. She married Robert J. Ketterer on May 11, 1944; he preceded her in death on June 6, 1972. She attended Chewton Christian Church. Ethel enjoyed gardening and was a member of the Ellwood City Art Club and the New Castle Gem and Mineral Society.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Sandra Lee Harper, who died June 16, 2008, and her son-in-law, John Caccia, on May 31, 1987. She was also preceded by two sisters and one brother: Erma Cananzi, Geraldine Gongaware, and Clare McQuiston.

Ethel is survived by a daughter, Ethel Mae Caccia, of Ellwood City, a son-in-law, Paul J. Harper, of Portersville, as well as seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received from 7-9 P.M. on Monday, February 9, 2009 in the TURNER FUNERAL HOME of Ellwood City, Sixth Street at Park Avenue, as well as from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, February 10, at TURNER’S with Rev. Dick Allen, pastor of Chewton Christian Church, officiating.

Interment will follow in Locust Grove Cemetery, North Sewickley Township.

Memorial Contributions may be made, in Ethel’s name, to the donor’s favorite charity.
