Dennis G. "Denny" Fisher

Dennis G. “Denny” Fisher, 57, of Ellport, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday afternoon, February 18, 2011 in the VA Butler Medical Center.

He was born in Ellwood City on June 29, 1953 to the late William D. Fisher, Jr., who passed away June 6, 1996, and Helen Hartzel Fisher, who survives.

He was a graduate of Riverside High School in the class of 1971 and was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving in Japan during the Vietnam war. He had recently retired after many years working as a USPS mailman in Ellwood City. Denny was a member of Ellport Presbyterian Church and enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, playing horseshoes, woodcarving, and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jacqueline, in infancy in 1949.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Cynthia L. Bowser Fisher, as well as two daughters and two sons: Pamela Fisher of Beaver Falls, M. Sgt. Jenifer Fisher, USAF, stationed in Ft. Dix, NJ, T. Sgt. William D. Fisher of Lakeland, GA, currently serving in Afghanistan, and Lucas Fisher, at home.

He is also survived by five grandchildren: Brandon, Jordin, MyRanda, Dylan, and Kendra Fisher, and his sister, Donna (and Warren) Dambach of Ellwood City.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. on Sunday, February 20, 2011 in the TURNER FUNERAL HOME of Ellwood City, Sixth Street at Park Avenue.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11 A.M. on Monday, February 21, 2011 at Ellport Presbyterian Church, 102 Portersville Road, Ellwood City, with Rev. Theresa Kendall, Denny’s pastor, officiating.
