Willis E. Kelly

Willis E. Kelly, 80, of North Sewickley, passed away at his residence following a lengthy illness on Tuesday morning, March 1, 2011.

He was born in Ellwood City on January 23, 1931 to the late Hallie B. Kelly and the late Anna Howell Kelly.

He was a 1948 graduate of Lincoln High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked as a crane operator at Babcock and Wilcox for 35 years and was protestant by faith.

Willis played pool in the Ellwood City Pool League and also golfed and bowled in the B&W League. He enjoyed fishing and searching for lost jewelry and coins with his metal detector.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Frederick B. Kelly on October 31, 2000; his niece, Kathy E. Kelly on May 7, 2004, and his stepson, James L. McFarland.

He is survived by his daughter and son, Cynthia J. and John D. Kelly, with whom he lived, and family friend Elizabeth A. McCuen of Chester, WV.

Friends will be received from 7-9 P.M. on Thursday, March 3, 2011 in the TURNER FUNERAL HOME of Ellwood City, Sixth Street at Park Avenue.

Services will b e conducted at 11 A.M. on Friday, March 4, 2011 at TURNER’S with Pastor Marvin Mayle, of Word Alive Church, officiating.

Full military rites will be conducted by the Veterans Honor Guard at the funeral home.

Interment will follow in Locust Grove Cemetery, North Sewickley Township.

Memorial contributions may be made, in Willis’ name, to the Alzheimer’s Association.
