Edward C Hanna, 67

Edward C. Hanna, 67, formerly of Brookville, Ohio, passed away peacefully the early morning of May 7, 2011, at 115 Hillside Way, Union Township, the home of Karen Hanna Baer, their grandson Nicholas and son Robert.

Born Oct. 21, 1943, in New Castle, he was a son of the late Victor H. and Carolyn M. Snyder Hanna.
A salesman most of his life, Ed retired several years ago. He had been employed for many years by Patio Enclosures as a salesman and designer. Edward was a 1961 graduate of Union Area High School and served with the Air Force from 1961 to 1964 as an airplane mechanic at Stewart Air Force base in New York.
,br>His many rescued pets included dogs, cats and rabbits. They were a constant joy to him. He supported many animal rescue leagues, wildlife and nature organizations. He liked photography and also enjoyed driving and showing his classic 1959 Chevrolet Apache pick-up truck at many local car shows and swap meets since 1996.
He was a member of the First Church of God in Mineral Ridge, Ohio.

Survivors include former wives Karen Ann Kary and Elizabeth Trupe; two sons, Robert L. Hanna of New Castle and David Sutkowski of Stayton, Ore.; two brothers, John R. Hanna of Deerfield, Ohio, and Philip V. Hanna and wife Joanie of Virginia Beach, Va.; three sisters, Carolyn A. Chambers of Port St. Lucie, Fla., Elvie M. Hannon of San Antonio, Texas, and Kathleen Hanna-Johnson and husband Robert of New Castle; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, including Robert's children Robert Jr., Johnathan, Richard, Ashley, Douglas, Alicia and Brandi Hanna and her children Damion and Elijah Calzada, and Mary’s children, Nicholas Hanna and Katherine Graham; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Ed was preceded in death by a daughter; Mary C. Hanna in 2007; two brothers-in-law, J. Ralph Chambers and Harold F. Hannon, II; a sister-in-law, Marilyn Jo (John) Hanna; and a nephew, John R. Chambers, Jr.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. June 12, at The Spiritual Path Church, 2041 Moravia St. Ext., New Castle. The Rev. Karen L. Heasley will officiate.

Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Angels For Animals or the American Diabetes Association.
