William E. Graham, 94

William E. Graham, 94, of New Castle passed away at 8:10 a.m. July 9, 2011, at Jameson Hospital, New Castle.

Mr. Graham was born in Swissvale, Pa., on May 7, 1917, to the late William H. and Edna Britton Graham. He was married to the former Helen Baltrose for 57 years. She preceded him in death on Aug. 17, 2006.

Mr. Graham retired as a machinist from Mesta Machine Co. and had previously worked at United Engineering Corp.

He served in the US Navy during World War II on the USS Sutherland in the Pacific Theatre.

He was a lifelong member of Highland Presbyterian Church and a member of the International Association of Machinists.

He also was a member of Lodge of the Craft-Westminster Lodge 433, the Scottish Rite Valley of New Castle Consistory and the Lawrence Caravan of Syria Shrine.

He is survived by a son, William L. Graham of Houston, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara “Kitty” and August Stache of Washington, Pa.; and two grandchildren, Christine Marie and Catherine Elizabeth Stache.

In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Graham was preceded in death by his two sisters; Margaret in 1983 and Edna Gertrude Graham in 2008.

Visitation will be 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday July 12 at the Turner-Myers Funeral Home, 208 N. Jefferson St.

A service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday July 12 at the funeral home with August Stache, son-in-law of Mr. Graham, officiating.

Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery.
