Rev. Edna A. Hockenberry

Rev. Edna A. Hockenberry, 81, of North Sewickley Township, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Monday evening, November 21, 2011 in the Ellwood City Hospital.

She was born in Chippewa Township, Beaver County on October 14, 1930 to the late Walter Roy Remaley and the late Nora Ethel Luke Remaley.

She graduated from Lincoln High School in the class of 1948. Together with her husband, they ministered for 35 years at the former Camp Run Free Methodist Church, Perry Township. Edna enjoyed writing poetry and short stories.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother and five sisters: Charles A. Remaley, Nellie Ora Remaley, Hazel E. Remaley, Ethel Byers, Ruth Hart, and Elsie Deiderick.

Edna is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Rev. Carl E. Hockenberry, whom she married on January 12, 1950.

She is also survived by two daughters and two sons: Lorraine (and Rudy) Shirilla of Beaver Falls, Elaine Steighner of Ellwood City, Randy Hockenberry of Portersville, and Gary (and Karen) Hockenberry of Rochester. Six grandchildren and three great grandchildren also survive, as well as a brother and two sisters: Everett G. (and Klara) Remaley of Sciota, PA, Beulah Ralph of Orange Park, FL, and Geraldine (and Joel) Langnecker of Chippewa Township.

Friends will be received from 10 A.M. until the time of service at 12 noon on Friday, November 25, 2011 in the TURNER FUNERAL HOME of Ellwood City, Sixth Street at Park Avenue, with Rev. Dan Hockenberry, her nephew, officiating.

Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Perry Township.

Memorial donations may be made, in Edna’s name, to the Kidney Foundation.
