Lois M. Vesco

Lois M. Vesco, 82, of Northview Estates, formerly of North Sewickley Township, passed away unexpectedly on Monday morning, January 2, 2012 in the Ellwood City Hospital.

She was born in Zelienople on Febuary 26, 1929 to the late Wilbert “Whitey” White and the late Mary Belle Carothers White. She was a graduate of Lincoln High School in the class of 1948 and was an LPN at Blairs Nursing Home in North Sewickley. She later worked as a chiropractic assistant for doctors Nicholas Matzukas, Frank Kinney, and Albert Majzlik in Ellwood City. She was a member of the Koppel United Methodist Church where she had served as assistant treasurer and was a member of the women’s auxiliary. She was a member of the Ellwood City Historical Society, past president of the Municipal Women’s Club in 1982-83, Ellwood City Chapter #212 of the Order of the Eastern Star, New Castle Wimodausis, and was a member of the Ellwood City Hospital Auxiliary where she worked at the front desk and managed the snack bar. She was a former secretary of the year in Beaver and Lawrence counties. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, gardening, painting, and especially her cat, Corky and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Kenneth E. Vesco, whom she married at Wurtemburg Methodist Church in September of 1950, and who died February 3, 1992. She was also preceded by her brother, Raymond White, and her son-in-law, Dennis C. Swick.

She is survived by two daughters, Deborah L. Vesco Swick of Cleveland, OH and Denise (and David) Holfelder of Ellwood City. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Christy Lee Holfelder of Ellwood City, her brother-in-law Robert (and Mary Jo) Vesco of Ellwood City, sisters-in-law Alda Derrow of Michigan and Chris White of Campbell, OH, her aunt Ruth Carothers of Patterson Heights, cousins Norma (and Bud) Sheeler of Koppel, Donald (and Jean) Goodnight of Harlansburg, Margaret Boren of Florida, and Jay (and Becky) Carothers of Chippewa, and many nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received from 6-8 P.M. on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 in the TURNER FUNERAL HOME of Ellwood City, Sixth Street at Park Avenue.

Services will be conducted at 11 A.M. on Thursday, January 5, 2012 at TURNER’S with Pastor Cherrie Andres, of the United Methodist Church, officiating.

Interment will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, Rochester.

Memorial contributions may be made, in Lois’ name, to the donor’s favorite charity.
