Donald E. Best

Donald E. Best, 73, of Shenango Township, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at his residence on Sunday morning, January 8, 2012.

He was born in Ellwood City on July 30, 1938 to the late Elmer Best and the late Hestor Fury Best. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School in the class of 1947 and was a carpenter by trade. He married his wife, Eileen Burgard Best, on August 14, 1959. They recently celebrated 53 years of marriage. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, and playing baseball.

The last of his family, Don was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by a brother and a sister: Raymond Best and Grace Schuffert.

In addition to his wife, Eileen, he is survived by a daughter and a son: Connie E. (and Scott R.) Minner of Castlewood, and Duane Best (and life partner David McKinney) of Portland, OR. He is also survived by three grandchildren: Joshua Minner and Mason and Levi McKinney-Best, as well as a great granddaughter, Anissa Minner. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

Friends will be received from 6-9 P.M. on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 in the TURNER FUNERAL HOME of Ellwood City, Sixth Street at Park Avenue.

Friends may also call from 10 A.M. until the time of service at 11 A.M. on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at TURNER’S with Rev. James R. O’Hara, pastor of Castlewood Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, officiating.

Interment will follow in Lillyville Church of God Cemetery, Franklin Township.
