Beverly L. Stauffer, 85, of Franklin Street, Ellwood City, (Franklin Twp.) passed away on Sunday afternoon, Mother’s Day, May 4, 2009 at the Ellwood City Hospital.
She was born on August 4, 1923 in Evans City to the late John C. West and Blanche Porter West.
She attended Zelienople High School, where she was a majorette. Later, she moved to Akron Ohio, where she worked as a beautician at Elva’s Beauty Shop.
She was a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Ellwood City where she helped in the primary department of the Sunday School. She also served on the Election Board in Franklin Township.
She was a loving wife and devoted mother.
Beverly is survived by her husband, Howard L. Stauffer, to whom she was married for 63 years. They were married on Nov. 18, 1945. Two daughters and sons-in-law survive: Pamela K. and Mark Zikeli and Carol and Kenneth McCartney, all of Ellwood City. One granddaughter, Leigh Ann Sechrist, and a great grandson, Jacob Sechrist, both of Butler also survives.
Three sisters-in-laws: Alyce R. Tillson of Medina, OH; Leah Kiesling of Ellwood City; and Lucille Scheidemantel of Cleveland, OH also survive as well as several Nieces and Nephews.
She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by one brother, John C. West Jr.
No public visitation is planned. Private funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Wednesday May 13, 2009 at the TURNER FUNERAL HOME of Ellwood City, Sixth Street at Park Avenue with the Rev. Peggy Suhr-Barkley, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, officiating.
Burial will be in the English Lutheran (Zelienople) Cemetery .
