Virginia L. Lash

Virginia L. Lash, 100, of North Sewickley, passed away peacefully on Wednesday afternoon, February 22, 2012 in the Evergreen Nursing Center in Harmony.

She was born in Ellwood City on January 1, 1912 to the late Lemuel O. Linville, Sr. and the late Elsie McCaslin Linville. She attended Lincoln High School in Ellwood City and married her late husband of 56 years, Kenneth S. Lash, on April 27, 1938. He preceded her in death on May 2, 1994.

Virginia was a longtime, oldest, and active member of Park Gate Baptist Church, where she ran the nursery for 38 years, and belonged to the Partners with the Lord Sunday School Class, the Adult Fellowship Group, and the Park Gate Boosters. Virginia and her mother were partners in Linville Restaurant on Sixth Street. Her dream was to open a tea room, which she did in her home and she owned and operated for 15 years, retiring in 1979. She was an emeritus member and former secretary of the Ellwood City Area Historical Society, and also belonged to the Ellwood City Hospital Auxiliary, the Salvation Army Women, the Ellwood City Garden Guild, the Suburban Woman’s Club, and the Order of the Eastern Star #212 Ellwood City Chapter.

The last of her family, she was preceded in death, in addition to her parents and husband, by three brothers and a sister, Lemuel O., Jr., George, and Paul Linville, and Ruth Brown.

Virginia is survived by her son, Thomas L. (and Patty) Lash, of Ellwood City, as well as three grandchildren, Kenneth “K.C.” (and Tammy) Lash, Sheri Lash Horter (and fiancé James Elderidge), and Stephanie Settle, and four great grandchildren, Kenneth “K.C.” II and Chelsey Lash, Jadelyn Horter, and Garrett Elderidge.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. on Friday, February 24, 2012 in the TURNER FUNERAL HOME of Ellwood City, Sixth Street at Park Avenue.

Services will be conducted at 11 A.M. on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at Park Gate Baptist Church, 2840 River Road, Ellwood City, with Rev. David Childs, her pastor, officiating.

Interment will follow in Locust Grove Cemetery, North Sewickley Township.

Memorial contributions may be made, in Virginia’s name, to Park Gate Baptist Church, the Ellwood City Hospital Auxiliary, or the Ellwood City Area Historical Society.
