Laurine L. Hogue Wolfe

Laurine L. Hogue Wolfe, 85, of New Castle, formerly of Ellwood City, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 in the Ellwood City Hospital after a lengthy illness.

She was born in Ellwood City on April 20, 1927 to the late William Walker and the late Ethel Washington Walker.

She was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Ellwood City, and was a longtime member of Bell Memorial Presbyterian Church.

She also belonged to the Ellport Boosters Club and volunteered for many years for Ellwood City Meals on Wheels, and later worked for Weight Watchers in Ellwood City. She enjoyed playing cards and working crossword puzzles.

She married the late McClelland Hogue on July 9, 1943. He died on April 22, 1991. She is survived by two sons and three daughters: Ronald G. Hogue of Wampum, Sharon (and Dan) McQuiston of New Castle, Susan (and Ronald) Gilchrist of Ellwood City, Richard A. (and Deb) Hogue of Bonita Springs, FL, and Stacy (and Curt) Konyak of Ellwood City.

Twenty-four grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren also survive.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters: Frank, Robert, and Willard Walker, Hazel Cogley, Edna Copper, and Margaret “Peg” Nagel.

Friends will be received from 3-6 P.M. on Thursday, August 2, 2012, in the TURNER FUNERAL HOME of Ellwood City, Sixth Street at Park Avenue.

Services will be conducted at TURNERS on Friday, August 3, 2012, at 11 A.M. with her pastor, Rev. Derek Longbrake, of Bell Memorial Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, Daugherty Township.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made, in Laurine’s name, to Bell Memorial Presbyterian Church, the Ellwood City Meals on Wheels Program, Southern Care Hospice, the Alzheimer’s Association, or the American Cancer Society.
