Kenneth C. McCartney

Kenneth C. McCartney, 65, of Wayne Township, Ellwood City, passed away on Friday, January 4, 2013 at the Ellwood City Hospital.

He was born in Ellwood City on February 3, 1947 to the late Robert J. and Elda Lewis McCartney.

He was a graduate of Lincoln High School, class of 1966. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, from 1968-69.

He worked in heavy construction for 30 years for Laborers Local Union 1058 (Pittsburgh), until retiring. He was a member of Wurtemburg Methodist Church. Ken’s family was his life and he enjoyed spending time with them and his dog, Timber.

He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Carol L. Stauffer McCartney, whom he married July 11, 1970, and by his daughter, Leigh Ann Sechrist of Butler, and his grandson, Jacob Michael Sechrist. His brother, Ronald B. McCartney, also survives.

In addition to his parents, Ken was preceded in death by one brother, Paul David McCartney.

Per Ken’s wishes, there will be no public visitation. Private services will be conducted in the TURNER FUNERAL HOME of Ellwood City, Sixth Street at Park Avenue with Rev. Peggy Suhr-Barkley, a family friend and pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, officiating. The Veterans Honor Guard will conduct a flag presentation ceremony and play taps at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Wurtemburg Cemetery, Wayne Township.

Memorial donations may be made, in Ken’s name, to the Lawrence County Humane Society or to the Center for Organ Recovery and Education.
