Calvin H. Runyan, Jr.

Calvin H. Runyan, Jr., 64, of Ellwood City, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday evening, January 13, 2013 in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh following an extended illness.

He was born on November 15, 1948 in Tarentum to the late Calvin Runyan, Sr. and the late Betty Myers Runyan. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He married his late wife of 38 years, Linda Lou Shay Runyan, in 1972. She preceded him in death on July 28, 2011. He worked at American Asbestos in Cranberry and Hunter Tire in Eau Claire until retiring. He had many interests, including fishing and hunting.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brother Dennis Runyan and his sister, Betty Clark.

He is survived by two sons and three daughters: Jacob (and Lorrie) Runyan of Wampum, Katrina (and Orville “Bud”) Duncan of New Castle, and Curt (and Kimberly) Runyan, Mellissa (and Doc) Chambers, and Margaret Couch, all of Ellwood City. Twelve grandchildren and two great grandchildren also survive, as well as three sisters and three brothers: Lorraine Yohe, Barb Gibbons, Donna Runyan and Bobby Runyan, all of Ellwood City, and Vernon (and Cora) Runyan of New Castle, and Donnie (and Cindy) Runyan of Millvale.

Friends will be received from 4 P.M. until the time of service at 6 P.M. on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 in the TURNER FUNERAL HOME of Ellwood City, Sixth Street at Park Avenue with Rev. Dennis Arndt, pastor of Lillyville Church of God, officiating.
