Grace Anderson Bartle

Grace Anderson Bartle, 88, of Fombell (Franklin Township), passed away peacefully on Friday afternoon, April 5, 2013 at Jameson Memorial Hospital in New Castle.

She was born in Forty Fort, PA, Luzerne County, on June 30, 1924 to the late Albert Henry Oliver, Sr. and the late Alice James Oliver Bales Matinas. A longtime member of Knox Presbyterian Church, Grace also enjoyed sewing, playing cards, and square dancing. She was a life member of the Franklin Township Fire Department Auxiliary. Grace had worked for many years in the snack bar at the Ellwood City Hospital as a member of the Ellwood City Hospital Auxiliary and had worked in the Riverside High School cafeteria.

She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her first husband, Ben Anderson Jr., who died January 14, 1963; and by her second husband, William D. Bartle, who died July 10, 2006. She was also preceded by two sisters: Latisha Bales Scott and Marie Muntean.

She is survived by eight sons and one daughter: Benjamin Anderson, Timothy J. Anderson, and Lenard L. (and Marjorie) Anderson, all of Fombell; Dennis A. (and Karen) Anderson of Las Vegas, NV; Kenneth R. (and Paulette) Anderson of Fayette City, PA; Robert E. (and Shirley) Anderson of Hanover, PA; Rollin (and Carolyn) Geddes-Anderson of Knoxville, TN; William D. (and Terri) Bartle of Bangor, ME, and by one daughter, Norma Jean Bartle (and Tim Fitzpatrick) of Erie, PA. Forty grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren also survive.

She is also survived by two brothers and one sister: Albert Henry (and Helen) Oliver, Jr. of Fombell; Robert (and Betty) Oliver of Trenton, NJ; and Eileen DeLisio of Beaver Falls.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. on Tuesday, April 9, 2013, in the TURNER FUNERAL HOME of Ellwood City, Sixth Street at Park Avenue. Services will be conducted at TURNER’S on Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Elizabeth Wallace, pastor of Knox Presbyterian Church, officiating.

Burial will be in St. Marks Lutheran Cemetery, Franklin Township.

Memorial donations may be made in her name to the Knox Presbyterian Church, 449 Nicholson Avenue, Ellwood City PA 16117.
