Raymond C. Duncan

Raymond C. Duncan, 83, of Portersville (Perry Township), passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family on Sunday morning, April 14 2013, following his beloved wife by just one week.

He was born in Castlewood (New Castle) on July 25 1929 to the late William L. and Bessie Bartle Duncan.
Ray enjoyed farming, gardening, canning, and picnics, but most of all he enjoyed his family. He was a longtime member of Mountville Presbyterian Church.

He was a retiree of the US Steel Corp., working the straddle buggy in the hot mill at the Ellwood Works for over 35 years until it closed in 1976, followed by some years at the McDonald plant in Ohio.
His wife, Donna Lou Rupp Duncan, whom he married August 3 1946, died one week ago, on April 6 2013, and one son, James C. Duncan, died March 18 1994.

He is survived by two sons and three daughters: Raymond “Sonny” (and Karen) Duncan; and Martin (and Jennifer) Duncan; and Doreen Duncan, all of Portersville; Sandra (and Charlie) Smith of Quitman TX; and Patty Duncan of Ellwood City. Twelve grandchildren survive as well as eleven great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter.

Also surviving is one sister, Helen (and Fred) Dean of Brookville PA. He was preceded by four brothers and two sisters: William, Walter, Orville, and Arthur Duncan; and Verna Baxter and Bessie Saunders.

Friends will be received from 7-9 P.M. on Tuesday, April 16 2013 in the TURNER FUNERAL HOME, 500 6th Street, Ellwood City.

Services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, April 17 at Mountville Presbyterian Church, conducted by Rev. Don Hurray, pastor. Burial will follow in the Mountville Church Cemetery.
