John R. Moore, Jr.

John R. Moore, Jr., 89, of Northview Estates, formerly of First Avenue, Ellwood City, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, May 3, 2013 at Northview Estates.

He was born in Ellwood City on April 3, 1924 to the late J. Ralph Moore, Sr. and the late Myrtle A. Taylor Moore. He graduated from Lincoln High School in the class of 1942 and served in the U.S. Army during WWII. John devoted his life to farming and had over 100 head of cattle and two farms on Squaw Run Road and Copper Road in Princeton.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Henry Moore.

He is survived by his sister, Doris Mathieson, of Ellwood City, and by four nephews: Jeffrey Moore of Kirkland, WA, Keith Moore of Houston, TX, Timothy Moore of Summer, WA, and Thomas Moore of Fuquay-Varina, NC.

Friends will be received from noon until the time of service at 1 P.M. on Monday, May 6, 2013 in the TURNER FUNERAL HOME of Ellwood City, Sixth Street at Park Avenue, with Rev. James Hockenberry, pastor of Harmony Baptist Church, officiating.

Interment will be in Crown Hill Cemetery, Prospect.
