Hilda M. Wilson

Hilda M. Wilson, 94, of Ellwood City, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday afternoon, June 4, 2013 at the VNA Hospice in Butler.

She was born in Ellwood City on May 27, 1919 to the late Andrew Zikeli and Elizabeth Guenther Zikeli.

She was a 1937 graduate of Lincoln High School in Ellwood City, and retired from the former Aetna-Standard Engineering Co. in Ellwood City.

She was a longtime active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Ellwood City and enjoyed gardening, quilting, and spending time with her family.

Hilda was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her husband, Robert C. “Red” Wilson, who died October 5, 1987 and son-in-law, Paul Dappenbrook Jr., who died October 26, 2012.
She is survived by three daughters and a son-in-law: Paula Dappenbrook of Beaver PA; Jane Wilson and Carol (W. Griffith) Clark, all of Ellwood City.
Four grandchildren survive: Debra (and James) Owens, Paul (and Debbie) Dappenbrook III, Allison (and Steven) Duran, Megan (and Robert) Hanzely, as well as six great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
One sister, Elizabeth Lightner, of Connellsville; a sister-in-law Agnes Zikeli of Ellwood City; and several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded by five brothers and one sister: Andrew, George, John, Paul, and Karl Zikeli, and Katherine Aldrich.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. on Friday June 7 in the TURNER FUNERAL HOME OF ELLWOOD CITY, 500 Sixth Street.

Services will be conducted on Saturday, June 8 at 11:00 A.M. at TURNERS, with her pastor, the Rev. Peggy Suhr-Barkley, officiating.
Entombment will be in Slippery Rock Cemetery Mausoleum.
Memorial donations may be made in Hilda’s name to Trinity Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 207 Spring Avenue, Ellwood City PA 16117.
