Dorothy L. Biggins

Dorothy L. Biggins, 85, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday afternoon, July 24, 2013 at the Haven Convalescent Home in New Castle.

She was born in East Palestine, OH on June 21, 1928 to the late Glen Leroy Biggins and Mary Eva Akenhead Biggins. She was a longtime resident of Wiley Hill, and later lived at Crescent Place and Hillview Manor before moving to the Haven in 2004. She worked at the Northwood Glass Plant in Frisco and the Ellwood City Knitting Mill. She was a faithful member of Wiley Hill Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and Bible School and served as the superintendent of Sunday School and the church secretary for many years. She was an avid bowler.

She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her sister, Thelma Drennen, and two brothers, Lester L. and Donald C. Biggins.

She is survived by her sister, Joyce M. (and Chet) Chidester of Danville, KY, and eight nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received from 2 P.M. until the time of service at 4 P.M. on Tuesday, July 30, 2013 in the TURNER FUNERAL HOME of Ellwood City, Sixth Street at Park Avenue, with Rev. James Hockenberry, pastor of Harmony Baptist Church, officiating.

Interment will be in Locust Grove Cemetery, North Sewickley Township.

Memorial contributions may be made, in Dorothy’s name, to the American Diabetes Association or to the American Heart Association.
