Donald J. Steen

Donald J. Steen, 82, of North Sewickley, passed away peacefully into the arms of his Lord and Savior on Sunday afternoon, July 28, 2013, in UPMC Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh following a lengthy illness

He was born in Ellwood City on June 6, 1931 to the late Albert and Evelyn Steen. He attended Lincoln High School and served as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force in the Korean War. Don married his wife of 61 years, Rose Lane Steen, on June 21, 1952. She survives. He was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church and worked as a letter carrier for the Post Office and operated a television repair shop in Ellwood City. He was a member of F.&A.M. #599 Ellwood Lodge, the Valley of New Castle Consistory, and the Syria Shrine. He enjoyed painting and was an avid golfer and bowler.

He is survived, in addition to his wife, Rose, by his daughter, Dottie (and Nick) Giuliano, as well as three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 5 P.M. on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at Knox Presbyterian Church, 449 Nicholson Avenue, Ellwood City, with Rev. Elizabeth Wallace, his pastor, officiating.

Members of F.&A.M. #599 Ellwood Lodge are asked to meet at the church at 4:45 P.M. to conduct a Masonic funeral service.
