William Jay Brenner

William Jay Brenner, 61, of Ellwood City, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday morning, September 1, 2013 at his residence.

Jay was born in Beaver Falls on January 7, 1952 to the late Myron O. Brenner and the late Lois Allison Brenner. He graduated from Riverside High School in the class of 1971 and attended Calvin Presbyterian Church. He worked in the maintenance department in Geneva College and was a local magician for 30 years, performing regularly on the Gateway Clipper Fleet in Pittsburgh and as far away as California, where he traveled to do balloon sculpture. Jay was a former Magician of the Year and past president of the Mystic Magicians of Beaver Valley, SAM Assembly #157. He enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family and grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Richard Brenner.

Jay is survived by his wife of 14 years, Kathy O’Conner Brenner, whom he married June 12, 1999. He is also survived by four children: Matthew Brenner of Mercersburg, PA, Corrie (and Gary) Klobchar of Clinton, and Billy Wiley and Erica Wiley, both of Ellwood City. Four grandchildren survive: Gary Michael and Alex Klobchar, Noah Brenner, and Logan Dickinson, as well as his brother, Myron “Shorty” (and Flora) Brenner, of Chesapeake Bay, MD.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. on Thursday, September 5, 2013 in the TURNER FUNERAL HOME of Ellwood City, Sixth Street at Park Avenue.

Friends may also call from 10 A.M. until the time of service at 11 A.M. on Friday, September 6, 2013 at TURNER’S with Rev. Calvin Henderson, pastor of Ellport Community Church, officiating.

Members of the Mystic Magicians of Beaver Valley, SAM Assembly #157 are asked to meet at the funeral home at 8:15 P.M. on Thursday to conduct a Broken Wand Ceremony.

Interment will be in Concord United Methodist Church Cemetery, Beaver Falls.

Memorial contributions may be made, in Jay’s name, to the Ellwood City Area Public Library.
