Roberta M. Hienz

Roberta M. Hienz, 85, of Ellwood City, passed away peacefully into the arms of the Lord on Saturday afternoon, September 14, 2013 at the Carriage Court Personal Care Facility in New Castle.

She was born in Ellwood City on February 23, 1928 to the late Walter LeHaven and the late Lamia Daellenbach LeHaven. She was a graduate of Lincoln High School in the class of 1946 and was a member of Discovery Christian Church in Cranberry. She enjoyed playing the piano and organ, playing for many area churches, including Park Gate Baptist, Assembly of God, and First Church of God. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Roberta was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her husband of 48 years, Henry Hienz, whom she married in 1947. He passed away on November 8, 1995. She was also preceded by two brothers: Carl “Buddy” and Arthur Daellenbach.

Roberta is survived by four daughters: Diane (and D. Scott) Kerr, Karen (and Daniel) Skvarla, and Sandy (and Michael) Yuricha and Terry Hienz, all of Ellwood City. Ten grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren also survive, with another great grandchild on the way.

Friends will be received from 6-9 P.M. on Monday, September 16, 2013 in the TURNER FUNERAL HOME of Ellwood City, Sixth Street at Park Avenue.

Friends may also call from 10 A.M. until the time of service at 11 A.M. on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at TURNER’S with her grandson-in-law, Rev. Bryan Gratton, pastor of Discovery Christian Church, officiating.

Interment will be in Locust Grove Cemetery, North Sewickley Township.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Carriage Court Personal Care Facility, Celtic Hospice, Chaplain Matthew Bupp, and Pastor Bryan Gratton for the compassion they showed Roberta.
