Barbara Lee McElwain

Barbara Lee McElwain, 72, of Ellwood City, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, September 26, 2013 at Good Samaritan Hospice at Heritage Valley Beaver.

She was born in Ellwood City on May 26, 1941 to the late Clarence Edward McElwain and the late Otis Fern Kelty McElwain. She was a graduate of Lincoln High School and was Presbyterian by faith. She worked at Leeds & Northrop, the Ellwood City Knitting Mill, and most recently as a toll collector on the Pennsylvania Turnpike. She enjoyed bingo and playing cards.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers: Robert W. (in infancy), J. Donald, Raymond W., R. Edward, and William B. McElwain; a sister, Gloria Hackett Cobb, and a brother-in-law, Andrew Fiedler.

She is survived by one brother and one sister: Earl L. (and Evelyn) McElwain of Ellwood City, Dorothy Fiedler of Baltimore, MD; and two sisters-in-law: Marialice McElwain of Ellwood City and Alma McElwain of Belton TX. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

Friends will be received from 2 P.M. until the time of service at 4 P.M. on Sunday, September 29, 2013 in the TURNER FUNERAL HOME of Ellwood City, Sixth Street at Park Avenue with Rev. Richard Byerly, formerly of Wurtemburg Presbyterian Church, officiating.

Interment will be in Wurtemburg Cemetery.
