Paul R. Arensberg, Sr., 87, of 143 Robbie Way, Portersville PA (Muddy Creek Twp., Butler Co.) died on Friday evening, August 7 2009 in the Emergency Dept. of the Ellwood City Hospital after an extended illness.
He was born in Pittsburgh PA on April 26 1922 to the late Rutherford and Emily Klein Arensberg.
Paul attended South Hills High School near Pittsburgh and was a self-employed carpenter.
He served in the US Army during World War II, and was a member of Mountville Presbyterian Church near Portersville. Paul enjoyed fishing as a hobby.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Audrey M. Luff Arensberg, whom he married March 28 1942.
He is also survived by three sons, two daughters-in-law; two daughters and two sons-in-law: Paul R. (and Bernadette) Arensberg Jr.; Robert Roy (and Edna) Arensberg; and James H. Arensberg, all of Portersville; Joyce Ann (and Richard) Kassouf of Gibbon Glade PA; and Audrey M. (and Michael) Maffei, of South Park PA.
Thirteen grandchildren survive as well as seventeen great grandchildren.
One brother, and sister-in-law, Rutherford S. (and Catherine) Arensberg, of Pittsburgh, also survive. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters and six brothers.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. on Monday, August 10 in the TURNER FUNERAL HOME OF ELLWOOD CITY, Sixth Street at Park Avenue.
Additional visitation will be on Tuesday morning, August 11, from 10-11 A.M. at his church. Services will be conducted in the Mountville Presbyterian Church on Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. with his pastor, the Rev. Don Hurray, officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountville Church Cemetery.
