Lester A. (Sam) Boots

Lester A. (Sam) Boots, 82, of Fombell, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at UPMC North Hills Passavant Hospital.

He was born on October 9, 1931 in Ellwood City to the late Lester L. and Edna Blum Boots.

He was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Ellwood City. A self-employed contractor and home builder, he owned L. Sam Boots and Son General Contracting & Excavating.

Sam enjoyed hunting, and his home at Canahdota Lake near Union City, PA, but he especially loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by one son and three daughters: Lester A. “Drew” (and Lisa) Boots, Jr. of Fombell; Leslie A. (and Mike) Burton of Centerville, PA; Dana B. (and Tim) Shaffer of Cumming, Georgia; and Janna McKeough of Ellwood City. Ten grandchildren survive: Josh, Cara, and Emily Burton; Mitchell and Morgan Shaffer; Kayla Hunter; and Amanda, Samantha, Kassidy, and Adam Boots; as well as four great grandchildren: Abby, Nolan, Ryker, and Tyler. He is also survived by two brothers and one sisters: Paul (Jiggs) Boots of Ellwood City; John Boots of New Brighton; and Carol Challis of Ellwood City.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Arthur Boots, and two sisters, Susie Clyde and Nancy Boots.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 in the TURNER FUNERAL HOME of Ellwood City, Sixth Street at Park Avenue.

Friends also may call from 10 A.M. until the time of service at 11 A.M. on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at TURNER’S with the Rev. Gene McConnell of the Union Goodwill Community Church, Ellwood City, officiating.
