Marylee Silvester

Marylee Silvester, 80, of Ellwood City, passed away peacefully on Saturday evening, February 8, 2014 at Beaver Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation in Chippewa following a brief illness.

She was born in Frisco, Ellwood City on July 23, 1933 to the late Paul Kimmel and the late Pauline Peffer Kimmel. She graduated from Lincoln High School in the class of 1951 and married her late husband of over 38 years, Remo A. Silvester, on January 15, 1955. He preceded her in death on October 27, 1993. Marylee worked as a dental assistant, a secretary at Allegheny Leather, and later as a cook at YMCA Camp Allegheny. Marylee was a longtime, devoted member of Knox Presbyterian Church in Frisco and she enjoyed crocheting, reading, and traveling with her late husband.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Matthew Silvester, on March 25, 2008, as well as two brothers and a sister: Paul and Tom Kimmel and Naomi Kimmel Powell.

Marylee is survived by three daughters and two sons: Robin Plavecsky of Cranberry and Julie (and Mike) Nocera and Valli (and Tom) Brandenburg, all of Ellwood City, Rick Silvester of New Castle, and Scott (and Lorraine) Silvester of Ellwood City. Eleven grandchildren also survive, as well as four great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Martha Beckley of Ellwood City.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 in the TURNER FUNERAL HOME of Ellwood City, Sixth Street at Park Avenue.

Services will be conducted at 11 A.M. on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at TURNER’S with Rev. Elizabeth Wallace, her pastor and friend, officiating.

Interment will be in Slippery Rock Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Wayne Township.
