Shelley A. Palmer, Jr.

Shelley A. Palmer, Jr., 82, of New Galilee, passed away unexpectedly on Monday afternoon, March 17, 2014 in the Ellwood City Hospital Emergency Room.

He was born in Fombell on July 12, 1931 to the late Shelley A. Palmer, Sr., and the late Ruth Tucker Palmer. He was a dairy farmer all his life. He married his wife of 64 years, Darlene McKinney Palmer, on February 8, 1950. She survives. He was a member of the Beaver County Tractor Club.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Daniel Lee Palmer, on October 22, 2010. He was also preceded by three brothers and five sisters: Thomas Palmer, John “Jack “ Palmer, James Palmer, Marie Glover, Virginia Beight, Lois Hart, Elizabeth Krchmar, and Madeline Palmer, in infancy.

He is survived by his wife, Darlene Palmer, and two daughters, Shelley (and Rev. Daniel) Hockenberry of New Castle and Kathleen “Kitty” (and Tim) Hockenberry of Hermitage. He is also survived by three sisters: Louise White and Juanita (and Rich) Eppinger, all of Zelienople, and Judy Barnhart of Harmony. Seven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren also survive.

His family will welcome friends from 5 P.M. until the time of service at 6 P.M. on Saturday, March 22, 2014 in St. Peter’s Reformed Church, 320 East Grandview Avenue, Zelienople, PA 16063 with Rev. James Bertoti officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to the TURNER FUNERAL HOME of Ellwood City, Sixth Street at Park Avenue.

Memorial contributions may be made, in Shelley’s name, to St. Peter’s Reformed Church in Zelienople.
