Ruth A. Boots Stuck

Ruth A. Boots Stuck, 76, of Fombell, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and friends on Thursday evening, April 10, 2014 in the Good Samaritan Hospice House in Wexford following an extended illness.

She was born in Ellwood City on June 27, 1937 to the late Ralph B. Boots and the late Pearl E. Miller Boots. Ruth attended grade school at North Star School and graduated from Zelienople High School in the class of 1955 and also graduated from Slippery Rock College in 1959 with a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education. Upon graduation, she taught in the Southwest (Seneca Valley) Butler School District and later taught in the Riverside School District. She was well known in the community for her singing, organ, and piano talents. She served the Lord with these talents at Camp Run Presbyterian, Ellport Presbyterian, and Christ Presbyterian Churches, as well as St. Gregory’s in Zelienople and other churches when needed. In her younger years, she sang in the “Three-Steps” Christian music trio. One of the highlights for Ruth was when she sang “Alice Bluegown” on KDKA radio at age 13 for the “Starlettes on Parade” with Betty Dugan as director and Ed Chauncey as announcer. Ruth helped on the family farm, which was in her family since 1878, in whatever way she could. She enjoyed working with the dairy cattle and cooking for her family. She also enjoyed sitting on the porch and reading.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Claude R. Stuck, who died on May 25, 2006. The two were married on June 23, 1962.

She is survived by two sons and a daughter: Duane Stuck and Brian (and Beth) Stuck, all of Fombell, and Beth (and Rob) Wehr of Evans City. Three grandsons also survive: Daniel, Andrew, and Aaron Stuck, as well as her brother, W. Edward (and Jean) Boots of Hendersonville, NC, and her sister-in-law, Doris Stuck, of Harmony.

Friends will be received from 7-9 P.M. on Sunday, April 13, 2014 and from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. on Monday, April 14, 2014 in the TURNER FUNERAL HOME of Ellwood City, Sixth Street at Park Avenue.

Services will be conducted at 11 A.M. on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at Camp Run Presbyterian Church, Franklin Township, Beaver County, with Rev. Andrew Shaffer and Rev. Elizabeth Wallace, officiating.

Interment will follow in Camp Run Cemetery.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Ruth Hardy, Kay O’Neill, Deloris Cunningham and Vitas Hospice for her care at home and also Ellwood City, Mercy, and Passavant Hospitals, Evergreen Nursing Center and Good Samaritan Hospice in her final weeks. A thank you also to all her friends and extended family for food and visitations.
