Marjorie R. Keck

Marjorie R. Keck, 66, of Franklin Township, Ellwood City, passed away on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. Although she had been ill, death was unexpected.

She was born in Ellwood City on June 8, 1948 to Louie S. Makrenos, of Ellwood City, who survives, and the late Ruth E. Heckathorn, who passed away July 10, 2000. She graduated from Northwestern High School in the class of 1966 and had worked at Friendship Ridge Nursing Center in Beaver as a medical records secretary. She married her husband of 28 years, Gary Keck, on November 29, 1985. He survives. She was a member Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Beaver Falls and the Beaver Falls Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her stepmother, Betty Jean Makrenos, on May 6, 2010, and her stepfather, Paul E. Heckathorn, Sr. on March 6, 2005, as well as her father and mother-in-law, Howard Keck in 2000 and Barbara Keck in 2007.

In addition to her father and husband, she is survived by two daughters, Brandi (and Christopher) Darr of Chippewa and Casey Keck (and Donald “Ree” Boyd) of Galivants Ferry, SC. Five grandchildren also survive: Nash, Blanche, Lila, and Christopher Darr and Nicholas Boyd. She is also survived by her brother, Paul (and Stephanie) Heckathorn and their three children, Ryan, Carson, and Tyler, and her sister, Sandy (and David) Meyer, of Cincinnati, OH and their two children, Michael and Kelly and their spouses. Numerous cousins also survive.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. on Sunday, June 29, 2014 in the TURNER FUNERAL HOME of Ellwood City, Sixth Street at Park Avenue.

Services will be conducted at 11 A.M. on Monday, June 30, 2014 at TURNER’S with Rev. Elizabeth Wallace, of Knox Presbyterian Church, officiating.

Memorial contributions, in Marjorie’s name, may be made to the Beaver County Humane Society.
