Robert F. Stewart

Robert F. Stewart, 78, of Maple Court, Zelienople, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, August 29, 2014 in the VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler.

He was born in Pittsburgh on January 25, 1936 to the late Robert Martin Stewart and the late Anna Elizabeth Phoftner Stewart. He graduated from Perry High School in Pittsburgh in the February class of 1956. He served in the United States Marine Corps Reserves for seven years following high school and married his wife of 58 years, Eleanor Z. “Ellie” Grelling Stewart, on March 2, 1956. She survives. Robert worked as a supervisor for several different fast food restaurants. He attended Union Goodwill Community Church in Ellwood City and enjoyed fishing, classic cars, gambling at the casino, and was an excellent cook who especially enjoyed making chili.

He is survived, in addition to his wife, Eleanor, by three daughters: Sheryl (and Colin) Myer of Redwood, NY, and Becky Stewart and Renee Stewart-Humes, both of Zelienople. Seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren also survive.

Private services will be conducted by the family at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to the TURNER FUNERAL HOME of Ellwood City, Sixth Street at Park Avenue.

Memorial contributions may be made, in Robert’s name, to the American Cancer Society.
