Bernice L. Gordon

Bernice L. Gordon, 99, of Largo, FL, formerly of Smiley Street, Ellwood City, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Saturday afternoon, October 11, 2014 at Sweet Water at Largo Assisted Living.

She was born in Ellwood City on May 19, 1915 to the late Howard and Edna Hall. Along with her late husband, Wesley, she co-owned Gordon’s Discount Furniture Store in Ellwood City for many years. She was a longtime member of Bell Memorial Presbyterian Church in Ellwood City.

In addition to her parents, Bernice was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley H. Gordon, on February 4, 2000. She was also preceded by her son, Thomas H. Gordon, and three sisters: Geraldine Weifenbach, Lottie Young, and Maybelle Hall.

She is survived by her daughter, Barbara (and John) Nye of Kokomo, IN; her daughter-in-law Linda L. Gordon, of Largo, FL; and her sister, Bonita (and Ned) Harbert of Cody, WY; as well as six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren.

Friends will be received from 10 A.M. until the time of service at 11 A.M. on Friday, October 17, 2014 in the TURNER FUNERAL HOME of Ellwood City, Sixth Street at Park Avenue, with Pastor Sean Brubaker of Calvin Presbyterian Church, officiating.

Interment will be in Locust Grove Cemetery, North Sewickley Township.
