Stephen J. Rubino

Stephen J. Rubino, 73, of Ellwood City, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday morning, December 24, 2014 at UPMC Passavant Hospital in Pittsburgh.

He was born in Ellwood City on August 15, 1941 to the late Stephen B. Rubino, who died on November 24, 1977 and the late Rose Pagley Rubino Morgan, who died on August 12, 2010. Stephen graduated from Lincoln High School in the class of 1961 and served in the U.S. Army. He worked as a water purifier at the Penn Power West Pittsburg Plant for many years until retiring. Stephen was a devoted, lifelong member of Holy Redeemer Parish in Ellwood City and belonged to the Legion of Mary. Stephen enjoyed gardening and his life revolved around his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He always encouraged them to attend church with him.

Stephen is survived by his brother and sister, Joseph (and Linda) Rubino of Ellwood City and Louise (and Italo) Sacco of Leland, NC. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Gary (and Amy) DeBlasio, Robert (and Jessica) DeBlasio, Ben (and Carrie Ann) DeBlasio, Mary Basile, and Daniel DeBlasio, all of Ellwood City, nineteen great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

Friends will be received from 12 noon until the time of a Blessing Service at 2 P.M. on Monday, December 29, 2014 in the TURNER FUNERAL HOME of Ellwood City, Sixth Street at Park Avenue with Rev. Fr. Okechukwu Camillus Njoku, parochial vicar of Holy Redeemer Parish, officiating.

Interment will follow in Holy Redeemer Cemetery, North Sewickley Township.

The family welcomes Holy Masses or memorial contributions may be made, in Stephen’s name, to the Angel Fund at Holy Redeemer Parish, 300 Crescent Avenue, Ellwood City, PA 16117.
