Dorothy M. Savor Pifer

Dorothy M. Savor Pifer, 91, of Ellwood City, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, January 17, 2015, at Woodcliffe Manor in Bethel Park.

She was born in Marion Center, PA on December 9, 1923 to the late George Lewis and the late Olive Lloyd Lewis. Dorothy worked as a seamstress at the former Dustproof Mattress in Ellport and baked pies for Christy’s Restaurant. She was a member of Portersville Presbyterian Church and the Portersville Keenagers and enjoyed baking pies, crocheting, and spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Michael Savor, who died January 25, 1966, and by her second husband, Homer C. Pifer, who died May 21, 2009. Dorothy was also preceded by one son, Roger Savor, in 1945, and one grandson, Gregory M. Savor, in 1992. The last of her family, she was also preceded by six brothers and five sisters: Earl, Dale, Park, Lloyd, William and Ray Lewis, Ruth Bishop Mona Wiley, Mildred Hooker, Elda McCartney, and Grace McQuiston.

She is survived by three sons and one daughter: Gary M. (and Chris) Savor of Ellport; Randy J. (and Pat) Savor of West Pittsburg; Bruce T. (and Deborah) Savor of Jacksonville, FL; and Tamara G. (and Fred) Mikush of South Park, PA. Thirteen grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren also survive. Two stepchildren also survive as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Friends will be received from 5 P.M. until the time of service at 8 P.M. on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 in the TURNER FUNERAL HOME of Ellwood City, Sixth Street at Park Avenue with the Rev. R. Tod Custer, of Christ Presbyterian Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Holy Redeemer Parish Cemetery, North Sewickley Township.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made, in Dorothy’s name, to the American Heart Association.
