C. LaVelle Summers

C. LaVelle Summers, 91, of Ellwood City, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, January 27, 2015 in Jameson Memorial Hospital in New Castle following a lengthy illness.

He was born in Wayne Township on December 7, 1923 to the late William Joseph Summers and the late Nellie Elaine Douglas Summers. He graduated from Lincoln High School in the class of 1942. He worked for many years in the clerical department at the National Tube Divison of U.S. Steel in Ellwood City and was a member of the old Assembly of God Church on Wayne Avenue where he served as treasurer. Lavelle was an avid sports fan and enjoyed the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Pittsburgh Pirates.

He is survived by his wife, Wilda Currence Summers, his daughter, Debra Summers, of Panorama City, CA, and his son, Lavelle David Summers, of Fennelton, PA. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Delcie Holbert, of Tampa, FL.

Friends will be received from 12 noon until the time of service at 1 P.M. on Friday, January 30, 2015, in the TURNER FUNERAL HOME of Ellwood City, Sixth Street at Park Avenue, with Pastor Marvin Mayle, assistant pastor of Word Alive Church, officiating.

Interment will be in Clinton Cemetery, Wampum.
