Hancox-Totin Lisanna R. "Lisa"

Lisanna R. “Lisa” Hancox-Totin, 51, of New Castle, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday morning, April 15, 2015 at her residence following a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer.

She was born in Taipei, Taiwan on November 27, 1963 to the late Boyd Hancox and Joy Wolfe Hancox of New Castle, who survives. She graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Springfield, VA and attended the University of Maryland before graduating magna cum laude from Westminster College and from the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, CA. She served as a Sergeant E-5 in the U.S. Army as an interrogator, speaking five languages. She married her husband of 23 years, Ronald Totin, on August 13, 1991. He survives. She was a member of New Virginia United Methodist Church in Hermitage and a member-at-large of the American Legion. Lisa had a deep love for her family and was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates, Penguins, and Steelers fan. She enjoyed the outdoors and boating and had a special place in her heart for her beloved dog, Tuffy.

In addition to her mother and husband, she is survived by her three sons: Steven, Nicholas, and Joseph Totin, all at home. She is also survived by her sister, Kristina (and Mick) Abbinanti of Harmony and her niece, Jessica Olson.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. on Friday, April 17, 2015 in the TURNER FUNERAL HOME of Ellwood City, Sixth Street at Park Avenue.

Services will be conducted at 11 A.M. on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at TURNER’S with Rev. Mark Goswick, her pastor, officiating.

Members of the Veterans Honor Guard are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:45 A.M. the morning of the service to conduct full military rites.

Interment will be in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Bridgeville.
