Anna E. "Betty" Cowan

Anna E. “Betty” Cowan, 91, of Zelienople, formerly of Ellwood City, passed away peacefully on Saturday evening, May 16, 2015 at St. John’s Specialty Care Center in Mars.

She was born in Columbiana, OH on May 23, 1923 to the late Homer Ford and the late Anna Reynolds Ford. She graduated from Lincoln High School in the class of 1940 and married her late husband of 21 years, John E. Cowan, on June 18, 1949. He preceded her in death on July 3, 1970. Betty worked as an assistant manager at the former Lawrence Savings and Trust for many years until retiring. She enjoyed crafts, especially crocheting.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothea Boyer.

She is survived by three daughters: Mary (and David) Best and Alice (and Dave) Anton, all of Fombell, and Marjorie (and Richard) Bovan of Ortonville, MI. She is also survived by six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Friends will be received from 10 A.M. until the time of service at 11 A.M. on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at Hope Lutheran Church, 8070 Rowan Road, Cranberry Township, PA 16066 with Rev. Ronald A. Brown officiating.

Interment will be in Clinton Cemetery, Wampum.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the TURNER FUNERAL HOME of Ellwood City, Sixth Street at Park Avenue.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society Relay for Life in Ortonville, MI, c/o Erin Bovan.
