Grant James Clyde Jr.


Grant James Clyde, Jr., 65, of New Castle, sadly passed away surrounded by his family on Sunday, May 31, 2015 following an accident at his residence.
He was born in Ellwood City on March 12, 1950 to the late Grant J. Clyde, Sr. and the late Grace Book Clyde. He was a member of Boy Scouts of America Troop #6 and attained the rank of Eagle Scout.
He graduated from Lincoln High School and from St. Francis of New Castle School of Nursing. He married his wife, Jean Tindall Clyde, on September 26, 1970.

Jim was a man of service and loyalty, first to God in his faith, his family, and also to the veterans he cared for during his 25 years as a registered nurse at the Butler VA Medical Center.
As a 4-H youth leader, he was involved with the Lawrence and Butler county livestock programs. In addition to attending and supporting his grandkid’s activities, Jim enjoyed woodworking, camping, and traveling. Jim was a loving son, devoted husband, proud father, and passionate grandfather who will be so dearly missed.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Barrows.

Jim is survived by his wife, Jean Tindall Clyde, two children, David A. (and Melissa) Clyde of Greeneville and Gayle L. (and Dr. Robb) Kissick of Portersville, as well as three grandchildren: Paige and Cheyenne Clyde and RJ Kissick. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Suzanne Barrows, of North Carolina, and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be conducted at 4 P.M. on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at Faith Country Chapel in 3818 Old Butler Road, New Castle, PA 16101, with Pastor Russ Van Nest officiating.
Interment will be in Locust Grove Cemetery, North Sewickley Township. Arrangements have been entrusted to the TURNER FUNERAL HOME of Ellwood City, Sixth Street at Park Avenue.
