F. Velma Hart Friday

F.VELMA HART FRIDAY, 94, of Bradenton Florida, formerly of Ellwood City (North Sewickley) passed away peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 6 2015 at Doctors Hospital in Sarasota.

She was born in North Sewickley Twp., Beaver County on January 3 1921 to the late Samuel Cleveland Hart and Florence J. Shanor Hart.

Velma was a longtime active member of North Sewickley Presbyterian Church, where she served as a deacon.

She graduated from Lincoln High School (Ellwood City) in 1939 and the nursing school at Beaver Valley General Hospital in 1942, where she is still a member of their alumni group.

Velma enlisted in the US Navy, serving during World War II as a nurse and Lieutenant Junior Grade at various posts.
After her service, she was a registered nurse at the Beaver Co. Medical Center (now Heritage Beaver Valley) for over 50 years.
Velma married William H. Friday in New Castle 67 years ago, the same day she died. He passed away October 28 1963.

She is survived by her two daughters and son-in-law: Barbara G. Grundy of Bradenton FL; and Rise M. (and Brian) LeBlanc of Huntsburg OH.

Two grandchildren survive: Dr. Heidi (and Dr. Michael)Kaufman of Princeton NJ and David William Grundy of Lakewood Ranch FL. and two great grandchildren: Max Kaufman and Jack Grundy.
The last of her family, Velma was preceded by four brothers and two sisters: M. Dale Hart, Norman Hart, Emerson J. Hart, Leroy S. Hart; Anna Mae Steffler, and Ethel Lois Hart (in infancy).
Friends will be received from 11:00 A.M. - 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, Sept. 12, in the TURNER FUNERAL HOME OF ELLWOOD CITY, 500 6th Street.

Services will be conducted at TURNERS on Saturday, at 2:00 P.M. with the Rev. Dr. Judy Angleberger, interim pastor at North Sewickley Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be in North Sewickley Cemetery.

Full military rites will be observed by the Veterans Honor Guard at TURNERS.
