Harold D. Swick

Harold D. Swick, 73, of St. John’s Specialty Care Center in Mars, PA, formerly of 525 Division Avenue, Ellwood City, passed away on Sunday afternoon, November 22, 2009 at St. John’s.

He was born in Beaver Falls on November 22, 1936 to the late Fred Swick and the late Eva Belle Druschel Swick Pflugh. He graduated from Zelienople High School in the class of 1954 and was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving from 1954-1958. He married his wife, Patricia Humphrey Swick, on January 10, 1964.

He had worked for Halstead & Mitchell in Zelienople for many years and retired from St. Barnabas Health System in Gibsonia, where he had worked as a security guard.

Harold was a member of Lillyville Church of God and the Ellwood City Auxiliary Police. He enjoyed bowling and playing Bingo and also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Sandra Swick, in 1987.

In addition to his wife, Patricia Humphrey Swick, he is survived by three children: Valerie (and Marty) Homner, John Swick (and fiancée Melinda Pennington), and Christopher (and Christine) Swick, all of Ellwood City.

He is also suvived by six grandchildren: Kacie Homner, Adrieanna Pertile, Ashley Pennington, and Kyle, Cheyanne, and Alicia Swick.

Two brothers, Lyle (and Bette) Swick of North Sewickley and Thomas (and Margie) Swick of Hardyville, also survive him.

Private Services were held at TURNER FUNERAL HOME, of Ellwood City, Sixth Street at Park Avenue, on Monday Nov. 23, 2009.
