Lavonda B. Curfman Luther

Lavonda B. Curfman Luther, 80, of Grove Manor, Grove City, PA, formerly of 307 Allenby Street, Ellwood City, died at Grove Manor on Saturday morning, December 5, 2009 after a lengthy illness.

She was born in Three Springs, PA (Huntingdon Co.) on July 28, 1929 to the late Clarence and Clarissa Nonemaker Curfman.

She was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church and graduated from Freeport High School. She was employed at Airways Industries in Ellwood City, and later worked in the cafeteria and maintenance for the Ellwood City Area School District.

Lavonda collected seashells as a hobby, and enjoyed traveling and crocheting.

She was preceded by her husband, George F. Luther, who died October 26, 1987. They were married in 1970.

She is survived by four brothers and three sisters: Donald Curfman of Emlenton, PA; Ned (and Agnes) Curfman of Volant; Marvin (and Lois) Curfman and Galen (and Gale) Curfman of Sarver, PA; Evidine (and John) King of Chicora; Faye (and James) Murrman of Butler; and Florence Thorp of San Antonio, TX.

Several nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother: Violet Flick and Darlene Covert, and Howard Curfman.

Friends were received on Sunday evening, and will also be received from 10-11 A.M. on Monday, Dec. 7 2009 in the TURNER FUNERAL HOME OF ELLWOOD CITY, Sixth Street at Park Avenue.

Services will be conducted at TURNERS on Monday, Dec. 7 at 11:00 A.M. with the Rev. R. Tod Custer, her pastor, of Christ Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, Daugherty Twp.
