Suzanne "Sue" Wilson McKim

Suzanne “Sue” Wilson McKim, 70, of 812 Walnut Drive, Ellwood City, passed into the arms of Jesus surrounded by her family, and her beloved dog Winston, on Monday evening, December 14, 2009 at her residence.

She was born in Ellwood City, PA on January 13, 1939 to the late C. Richard Wilson and the late Lillian A. Henderson Wilson.

She graduated from Lincoln High School in Ellwood City in the class of 1956, attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania, received her BA in English and Speech from Muskingum College, and completed her graduate work at Geneva College. She worked as an English teacher at Union Area High School and Toledo High School. She also worked at the Parents Pre-School in Ellwood City for 13 years before retiring in 1987.

She married the late Wilbert C. “Wib” McKim, Jr. on December 13, 1972. He passed away February 11, 1995.

She was a member of Calvin Presbyterian Church in Ellwood City. She was a Past Matron of the Order of the Easter Star #212, Ellwood Chapter, and also past president of the College Club.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kari L. (and Ronald) Goerl, with whom she lived, as well as three stepsons and two stepdaughters: Todd F. (and Karen) McKim, of Santa Rosa, CA; Blake A. McKim and Scott M. (and Suzie) McKim, both of Wexford; April M. (and David) Grahl, of Westchester, OH; and Courtney M. (and James) Ingram, of Columbus, OH.

She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren: Lyndsey Basham, Austin and Emily Goerl, Natalie and Shannon Skillern, Christopher and Johnathan McKim, Allie and Joshua Grahl, Haley and Conner Ingram, and Kristen and Nathan McKim.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law; Nancy McKim.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. on Thursday, December 17, 2009 in the TURNER FUNERAL HOME of Ellwood City, Sixth Street at Park Avenue.

Additional visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, December 18, 2009 at Calvin Presbyterian Church, 615 Crescent Avenue, Ellwood City, with Rev. James Latta, her pastor, officiating.

Interment will follow in Slippery Rock Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Members of the Ellwood City Chapter #212 of the Order of the Eastern Star are asked to meet at the funeral home at 6:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 17, 2009 to conduct a funeral service.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Ellwood City Area Public Library, the American Lung Association, Canine Companions for Independence, North Central Region, or to Calvin Presbyterian Church.
