Ellis R. Boots

Ellis R. Boots, 92, of Holly Hill Nursing Home, Newbury, Ohio, formerly of 629 Line Avenue, Ellwood City, died on Friday January 1, 2010 at the nursing home.

He was born in the Brush Creek area of North Sewickley Township on July 7 1917 to the late Roy A. and E. Irene Walker Boots.

He was affiliated with the Bell Memorial Presbyterian Church in Ellwood City, and worked for many years in the cold draw and cold finish departments at the former Ellwood Works of US Steel Corp. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II.

Ellis’ family was one of the oldest settlers in northern Beaver County, and his great grandfather was one of the founders of Concord Methodist Church in North Sewickley.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Nellie A. Fray Boots, who died March 9, 1977, and by his second wife, Mary Berendt Mathieu Boots, who died June 7, 2005.

He is survived by two step children, Margaret “Gretchen” (and Lewis) Myers of Chesterland, OH; and Gerald A. (and Irene) Mathieu of Cross City, FL. and by 8 step grandchildren and 28 step great grandchildren.

Also surviving is one brother, Ralph W. Boots, of Rotunda West, FL.

He was preceded by two sisters, Alta Mae Boots and Dorothy Boots Kelly.

Friends will be received from 12 – 2 P.M. on Wednesday, January 6, 2010 in the TURNER FUNERAL HOME OF ELLWOOD CITY, Sixth Street at Park Avenue.

Services will be conducted on Wednesday, January 6, 2010, at 2 P.M. at TURNERS, with the Rev. Derek Longbrake, pastor of Bell Memorial Presbyterian Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Holy Redeemer Parish Cemetery, North Sewickley.
